Skybound and Universal Pictures Continue Monster Mash with ‘Blood of the Wolf Man’ Comic
Skybound Entertainment and Universal Pictures are expanding their partnership with a new comic book series, Blood of the Wolf Man, set to launch in June 2026. This continues a trend of reimagining Universal’s classic monsters for a modern audience, following previous releases centered around Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein, The Mummy and the Phantom of the Opera.
A New Take on a Classic
The four-issue mini-series, published by Image Comics, will feature writing by Joshua Williamson, known for his perform on G.I. Joe at Skybound and horror titles like Nailbiter. Artwork will be provided by Léo Colapietro, previously lauded for his work on Basketful of Heads.
Unlike a direct adaptation of the 1941 film The Wolf Man, Blood of the Wolf Man is described as a re-interpretation of the werewolf story, set in the 1970s. The publisher’s synopsis introduces Adam Jaeger, a college student whose life takes a dark turn after a mysterious event: “Adam Jaeger thought he could craft a splash in college… But not like this. One moment he’s partying, then he’s recovering from a huge massacre that left almost no survivors. And the worst? He could be responsible…”
Variant Covers and Artistic Tributes
In keeping with previous releases in the Universal Monsters line, Blood of the Wolf Man #1 will feature a variety of variant covers alongside the standard artwork by Léo Colapietro. Contributing artists include Joshua Middleton, Maria Wolf, David Talaski, Jorgé Fornés, Guillem March, and Michael Walsh.
Release Date and Availability
Blood of the Wolf Man #1 is scheduled for release on June 24, 2026, at comic shops. Urban Comics currently offers three Universal Monsters albums in France.
