Offensive Explosion
Toronto’s offense erupted for six runs in the first inning and added seven more in the fourth. George Springer led the charge with two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Jesus Sanchez, and Alejandro Kirk as well contributed with two-run home runs in the first inning, setting the tone for the game.
Pitching Performance
Dylan Cease delivered a convincing performance on the mound for the Blue Jays, pitching five innings and allowing only three hits while striking out six batters.
Rays Struggle
Tampa Bay’s starter, Nick Martinez, had a difficult outing, being removed from the game after allowing 12 hits and 11 runs in just three and two-thirds innings. The Rays ultimately fell to the Blue Jays, 14-1.

In a separate Sunday game, Quebecer Édouard Julien distinguished himself with the Colorado Rockies, hitting a solo home run in the seventh inning to tie the game 4-4 against the Athletics. Colorado ultimately won the game 6-5. Julien had previously been struck out in his first two appearances.
