BMW to Expand M2 Lineup with xDrive and Introduce New M350 xDrive

A recent leak from BMW USA’s online parts store has revealed plans for a significant expansion of the BMW M lineup over the next year, including the introduction of an all-wheel-drive (xDrive) variant of the M2 and a new M350 xDrive model.

M2 xDrive: A New Option for Performance Enthusiasts

For the first time, the BMW M2 will be available with the xDrive all-wheel-drive system in the United States. Previously, the M2 has been exclusively rear-wheel drive, with xDrive reserved for the larger M3 and M4 models. However, BMW will continue to offer the rear-wheel-drive M2 alongside the new xDrive variant, preserving the option for a more traditional driving experience. The rear-wheel drive M2 will retain the availability of a six-speed manual transmission.

M350 xDrive: Replacing the M340i

BMW is also planning to replace the current M340i with a new M350 xDrive model. This new variant is expected to feature a turbocharged straight-six engine, potentially a variant of the B58 engine found in the M240i, which currently produces 387bhp and 398lb ft of torque.

Additional Model Updates

The leak also indicated upcoming changes to BMW’s electric vehicle lineup. The next generation of the 3 Series will include electric versions, the i3 40 xDrive and i3 50 xDrive, built on the Neue Klasse platform. A new coupe-like electric crossover, the iX4, will also be introduced as a sportier alternative to the iX3. The i4 saloon is expected to be discontinued with the introduction of the i3.

Further updates include a new generation of the BMW X5 and a restyled BMW 7 Series, which will continue to offer a V8 engine, including a new M760 M Performance version.
