Brussels,Belgium – February 4,2026 – A recent IT incident has led to approximately 40,000 transactions being duplicated or processed multiple times, affecting customers’ accounts since February 1st. The issue encompasses a range of payment types, including in-store purchases, cash withdrawals, and recurring subscription fees.

While the exact financial impact remains unclear, reports indicate meaningful discrepancies for some customers. One individual reported over 2,000 euros incorrectly debited from their account, highlighting the potential for substantial financial hardship.

The bank has issued an apology for the inconvenience caused by the error and assures customers that a resolution is underway. A spokesperson emphasized that affected customers should refrain from taking any independent action at this time. The bank is actively working to identify and rectify the erroneous charges.

This incident follows a similar, albeit larger-scale, issue last week that impacted 100 banks across Europe. That previous malfunction stemmed from a problem wiht an external payment service provider and involved the re-processing of older payments. The current issue appears to be isolated to this bank’s internal systems.

customers with concerns are advised to monitor their account statements closely and await further interaction from the bank regarding the correction of the duplicate charges. The bank has not yet provided a timeline for complete resolution but has committed to addressing the issue as swiftly as possible.
