Dutch Railways Expects Extremely Busy Days Around New Year’s Eve

The Dutch Railways (NS) anticipates exceptionally high passenger numbers in the days leading up to and following New Year’s Eve. Travelers are strongly advised to reserve a spot on the train and to be prepared for crowded trains and stations.

NS expects the busiest travel days to be December 29th and 30th, as people travel to visit family and friends for the holidays. The return journeys are expected to be especially busy on January 1st and 2nd.

“We expect it to be very busy,especially on those peak days,” said an NS spokesperson. “We urge everyone to plan their journey in advance, reserve a spot if possible, and be prepared for crowded conditions.”

Travelers can reserve a spot on most intercity trains through the NS app or website. This is especially recommended for journeys during peak hours. NS is deploying extra trains and personnel where possible, but the sheer volume of travelers is expected to lead to congestion.

Passengers are also advised to check the NS website or app for the latest travel data and potential disruptions before starting their journey. Allowing extra travel time is also recommended.

Milan, 16, Found After Christmas Day Search

The body found this afternoon in the water at Handelskade in Beverwijk has been identified as 16-year-old Milan, police confirmed to NOS.He’d been missing since Christmas Day.

Milan, a Ukrainian boy, whent for a walk on Christmas Day and didn’t return home. He was last seen on Debora Bakelaan in Heemskerk. He had an intellectual disability and couldn’t speak.
