Bojan Hodak Suspended for Persib Bandung’s Clash with Madura United
Jakarta – Persib Bandung will be without head coach Bojan Hodak on the sidelines when they face Madura United in a crucial Super League 2025/2026 match. Hodak has been suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
Hodak’s Suspension and Igor Tolic’s Role
The Croatian coach received his fourth yellow card of the season during Persib Bandung’s match against Persita Tangerang on February 22nd. He is prohibited from directing the team from the bench during Thursday’s (February 26th, 2026) game at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium. The responsibility of leading the team from the sidelines will fall to assistant coach Igor Tolic.
Despite the suspension, Hodak will be present at the GBLA Stadium, observing the match and providing support from the stands. A club statement confirmed, “Even though he can’t grant instructions from the bench, Hodak is certain to still be present and provide support at GBLA at that match. Not in the dressing room or on the side of the pitch, but from the stands.”
Strategic Concerns and Madura United’s Approach
Hodak anticipates a defensive strategy from Madura United, a common tactic employed by teams playing away against Persib Bandung. “Like all the teams that approach here (Bandung) to play against us, they will usually play very defensively. So this match will not be easy, it will be quite difficult,” Hodak stated.
The match presents a challenge for coordination between Hodak in the stands and Tolic on the field, as Persib Bandung aims to maintain their winning momentum.
Kurzawa Set to Debut?
Persib Bandung may see the debut of Layvin Kurzawa against Madura United. The newly signed left-back, who joined the club on January 25th, 2026, has only featured in two Asian Champions League 2 (ACL 2) matches thus far. Hodak had previously expressed concern about risking Kurzawa’s fitness, but may now opt to utilize him in the Super League match.
