Düsseldorf Wins Rematch Against Bad Homburg in TTBL
On the 9th matchday of the table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), TTC OE Bad Homburg hosted Borussia Düsseldorf for the second time in five days. Bad Homburg surprised everyone last Tuesday by defeating the cup champions early in the cup tournament, but Düsseldorf responded with a well-deserved away win in the league.
Revenge succeeded – Düsseldorf’s Reaction
It was clear from the beginning that Düsseldorf didn’t want to repeat their cup loss. “We tried everything and fought hard on Tuesday, and then we thoght about what we could have done better,” explained Anton Källberg. He added that today’s game “wasn’t easy,” but the team was very happy with the win.
Borussia manager andreas Preuß also emphasized the importance of missing the Cup Final Four: “This wasn’t just any defeat; it meant we didn’t reach the Cup Final Four, which was our main goal for the season.” The victory in Bad Homburg helped Düsseldorf maintain their lead in the league standings – a crucial step after the disappointment earlier in the week.
Bad Homburg Started Strong Again
Düsseldorf played without Dang Qiu, who was unable to travel to Bad Homburg due to an injury. Bad Homburg, unlike their cup match, used Jo Yokotani, Benno Oehme, and Juan perez in the singles matches.
Yokotani made an immediate impact in the opening match, causing a stir with a coup.
