Boston College Women’s Tennis Opens Fall Slate at Harvard Fall Classic
Boston College women’s tennis opened its autumn competition schedule at the Harvard Fall Classic, held from Oct. 2-4 in Cambridge, Mass. The Eagles posted a 6-3 record in doubles play and went 12-7 in singles matches over the three-day tournament.
Doubles Highlights Led by Camacho and Glowacka
Bella Camacho and Tola Glowacka set the pace for Boston College by sweeping all three of their doubles matches. On the opening day, Camacho and Glowacka defeated Boston University’s Gabriella Mikaul and Nancy Liu 6-0. Jackie Soloveychik and Gian Octa added a 6-4 win against Boston University’s Gabby Sadowski and Lauren Kettlewell. Olivia Cutone and Lucy King fell 7-5 to Boston University’s Vailisa Borisova and Blanka DeMicheli. On Day 2, Camacho and Glowacka beat Stony Brook’s Yasmin Vavrova and Sanjana Devineni 6-2. Olivia Benton and Olivia Cutone lost 6-3 to Stony Brook’s Elena Lobo-Corral and Paisha Douglas, while Gian Octa and Jackie Soloveychik dropped a 7-6 (4) tiebreak to Stony Brook’s Mia Palladina and Ladina Bruhin. On Day 3, Camacho and Glowacka downed Harvard’s Claire Shao and Anna Tabunschchyk 6-1. Benton and Cutone defeated Harvard’s Andra Braicu and Elizabeth Evans 6-4, and Octa and Soloveychik beat Harvard’s Anna-Raphaëlle Serghi and Kate Kim 6-2.
Singles Performances Across Three Days
Bella Camacho went undefeated in singles action across the weekend. On Day 1, Camacho defeated Boston University’s Lauren Kettlewell 6-2, 6-2. Gian Octa beat Ellie Gyuro 7-5, 7-5, and Jackie Soloveychik topped Madison Liu 7-5, 6-4. Boston University claimed three singles matches against the Eagles on opening day: Gabriella Mikaul beat Tola Glowacka 6-1, 2-6, 6-4; Gabby Sadowski defeated Olivia Cutone 6-4, 6-3; and Blanka DeMicheli beat Lucy King 6-1, 6-1.
On Day 2 against Stony Brook, Olivia Benton defeated Paisha Douglas 2-6, 6-2, 10-7. Camacho beat Elena Lobo-Corral 6-3, 0-6, 10-6. Glowacka won against Mia Palladina 6-2, 2-1 ret. Octa defeated Ladina Bruhin 7-5, 6-2. Soloveychik edged Sanjana Devineni 6-3, 3-6, 10-7, and Cutone beat Cornelia Bruu-Syversen 6-3, 7-5. Stony Brook’s Isa Fares defeated Lucy King 6-4, 7-5.
On Day 3 against Harvard, Camacho beat Natalie Block 6-2, 6-2. Glowacka defeated Claire Shao 7-6 (3), 6-3. Cutone topped Natasha Rajaram 6-1, 6-2. Harvard collected wins against remaining Eagles: Anna Tabunschchyk beat Benton 7-5, 6-3; Anna-Raphaëlle Serghi defeated Soloveychik 6-2, 7-5; and Kate Kim beat King 6-0, 6-1.
ITA Regional Championships at Yale
