Bournemouth Crushes AC Milan 3-0 in Historic Europa League Clash

Bournemouth secured a dominant 3-0 victory over AC Milan in the UEFA Europa League, handing manager Ruben Amorim his fifth match without a win against the English club, Sky Sports reported. The match marked Amorim’s first return to Britain since his dismissal from Manchester United on January 5.

The breakthrough arrived early when a VAR check spotted a handball by Koni De Winter as Evanilson headed wide. Justin Kluivert stepped up to convert the ensuing penalty, coolly sending goalkeeper Mike Maignan the wrong way to give Bournemouth a historic lead, according to Sky Sports. Kluivert’s strike came 31 years and 151 days after his father, Patrick, scored the winner against Milan in the May 1995 Champions League final.

Maignan Red Card Allows Tavernier to Double Lead

The night deteriorated further for the visitors in the 28th minute. Tyler Adams drew a second penalty kick and got Maignan sent off after the Milan goalkeeper pushed him in the face, Soccer America reported. Marcus Tavernier dispatched the resulting spot-kick to double the lead before halftime.

Thrown into a nightmare scenario in the 32nd minute, substitute goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani faced the immediate pressure of the penalty and finished the match with four saves to prevent an even heavier defeat. Tactical adjustments at the break saw Davide Bartesaghi and Adrien Rabiot enter the pitch, but the two-goal deficit and man disadvantage proved insurmountable as Milan focused purely on survival.

Amine Adli Free-Kick Seals the Result Late

Amine Adli capped the historic night in the 84th minute by curling a free-kick through a crumbling Milan wall, Sky Sports reported. The set-piece goal highlighted a total tactical collapse following the red card, leaving Amorim’s side without a single shot on target throughout the fixture.

Late substitute Sankhoun Diawara struggled to track runners after replacing Fikayo Tomori in the 66th minute, leaving gaps that culminated in the third goal conceded. Down a man and out-paced, the seven-time European champions failed to mount a meaningful offensive response against a disciplined Bournemouth side currently leading the Europa League standings.
