According to Pierre-Louis Dhaeyer of the brewery, Paramount requested and received two cases of Chimay for the production, but staff members only discovered the beer made the final cut when producers asked for product for the avant-première.
Organic Screen Time Without the Price Tag
Dhaeyer noted that the appearance was entirely organic rather than a commercial partnership.
Chimay supplied only complimentary product samples with no accompanying communication regarding how the brand would appear on screen, meaning the brewery secured valuable international screen time without spending a single euro.
Translating Silver Screen Reach to Export Markets
The sudden on-screen exposure provides significant marketing reach within the United States, which serves as Chimay’s primary export market outside of France.
Despite the promotional value, the brewery confirmed it has no plans to launch an official advertising campaign tied to the film, partly due to legal restrictions preventing the unauthorized use of movie stills.
Dhaeyer stated that Chimay Blauw represents roughly half of the brewery’s total output as its most popular degustation beer.
Any financial gains resulting from increased consumer demand flow directly through the abbey and its associated foundation to fund social initiatives, including educational programs, residential care centers, and support services for individuals with disabilities.
