Indianapolis, IN – The andrean 59ers secured their fourth Indiana High school Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 2A football state championship on Saturday, defeating the Brownstown Central Braves 7-0 in a hard-fought contest at Lucas Oil stadium. The victory marks Andrean’s first state title since 2021 and caps off a stellar 13-1 season for the 59ers. Brownstown central, making their first championship appearance in head coach reed May’s impressive 33-year tenure, finished the season with a 14-1 record.
The game was a defensive showcase, with both teams struggling to find offensive rhythm. The decisive moment came with 5:00 remaining in the fourth quarter when Andrean junior running back Brady Stovall powered into the endzone from two yards out, breaking the scoreless tie. The touchdown proved to be the only score of the game, solidifying the 59ers’ championship win.
Andrean’s defense played a pivotal role in the victory, achieving a remarkable feat by shutting out the Brownstown Central offense. The Braves had entered the championship game averaging over 31 points per contest, largely due to their effective wing-T offensive scheme.
