Haie Dominate Pinguins in 5-2 Road win
We got the job done! The Cologne Haie defeated the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven 5-2,securing their sixth consecutive win. The game in northern Germany saw us jump to a 2-0 lead, but a brief second-period interruption (due to an injury to a Pinguins player – we wish them a speedy recovery!) allowed Bremerhaven to tie the score. We regained control in the third period and finished strong, earning a well-deserved three points. Here’s a full recap.
The Haie entered the game riding high from a 7-4 home victory against Nuremberg. This marked Cologne’s first return to Bremerhaven as the 2025 playoff series, which the Sharks ultimately won in six games.
The game quickly found its rhythm.Cologne’s Dominik Bokk had an early breakaway just 35 seconds in, but was stopped by former Hai Julius Hudacek, the Fischtown Pinguins’ goaltender. However, Hudacek couldn’t deny Nate Schnarr, who put the KEC ahead 1-0 at the 7-minute mark.
The first period was evenly matched. Both teams created opportunities, but Cologne held a slight edge, generating chances through a 2-on-1 rush from Aubry and Tuomie (11th), and individual efforts by Austin (17th) and Bokk (18th). Goaltender Janne Juvonen confidently stopped every shot from the home team.
Cologne maintained its structured play in the second period, extending the lead through Maximilian Kammerer. Our number 9 made it 2-0 (25th), but Bremerhaven responded quickly. Coach sulzer’s team equalized within 65 seconds. Ve
