Tragedy in Australia: British Couple Drowns at Shellharbour Beach
A married British couple has died after drowning at Shellharbour Beach in Recent South Wales, Australia, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The pair, both in their 60s, were visiting family when the incident occurred.
Details of the Incident
Emergency services were called to Shell Cove, near Shellharbour Beach, shortly after 11:00 AM local time following reports of two swimmers in distress Mirror. A 66-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman were pulled from the water by beachgoers.
Off-duty nurses at the scene immediately began performing CPR until paramedics arrived. Despite their efforts and continued resuscitation attempts by NSW Ambulance paramedics, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene Mirror.
Response and Investigation
NSW Police have commended the actions of the off-duty nurses and a young male who assisted in the rescue attempt. A spokesperson for the force stated, “This is a tragic incident and our heart goes out to the family” Mirror.
