Brittany Cartwright Granted Restraining Order Against Jax Taylor After Alleged Threats

Reality TV star Brittany Cartwright has been granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, after accusing him of domestic violence and alleging that he threatened to gut her like a fish, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and reported by outlets including TMZ and Us Weekly.

Restraining Order Details and Court Filings

Cartwright, 37, filed the protective order request on Thursday, August 27, detailing nearly a decade of alleged emotional, psychological, and physical abuse, alongside claims of coercive control and financial abuse, according to court documents reviewed by Us Weekly. A Los Angeles judge granted the temporary petition, ordering Taylor, 47, to stay 100 yards away from Cartwright. However, according to E! News, the judge denied Cartwright’s initial request for sole custody of their 5-year-old son, Cruz, pending a formal court hearing.

Divorce Proceedings and Legal History

The protective order comes amid ongoing divorce proceedings between the former couple, who were married from 2019 to 2024. Cartwright filed for divorce in late August 2024, shortly after separating from Taylor. Legal representation for Taylor, attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, stated to Us Weekly last month that Taylor has been actively working to move the case forward to completion. Conversely, a source close to Cartwright told Us Weekly that the legal delays stem from unresolved financial issues and Taylor’s previous 90-day stint in a treatment facility in 2024.

Impact on Reality Television Filming

The legal split has played out publicly against the backdrop of Bravo’s reality series The Valley, a spinoff of Vanderpump Rules. According to reporting confirmed by Us Weekly, Taylor was served with divorce papers on camera while actively filming the second season of the series. Neither Taylor nor his legal team have publicly addressed the specific domestic violence allegations outlined in the recent restraining order petition.
