Philip Broberg Signs Six-Year Extension with St. Louis Blues
ST. LOUIS,MO – January 10,2026 – The St. Louis Blues have secured defenseman Philip Broberg for the long term, announcing a six-year contract extension worth $48 million, carrying an average annual value (AAV) of $8 million. The announcement was made Saturday by Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager doug Armstrong.
Broberg, 24, is currently in his second season with the Blues, having initially signed with the team as a restricted free agent on August 20, 2024. He has quickly become a key component of the Blues’ defensive lineup.
In 45 games this season, the 6-foot-4, 210-pound defenseman has registered 14 points, including two goals and 12 assists, along with six penalty minutes. Last season, broberg showcased his offensive capabilities, recording 29 points (eight goals, 21 assists) in 68 regular-season games. He led all Blues defensemen with an impressive plus-21 rating.
throughout his 194-game NHL career, Broberg has accumulated 56 points (12 goals, 44 assists) and has logged 32 penalty minutes, maintaining a plus-16 rating. His experience extends to the postseason, where he has participated in 27 career playoff games, including 10 games during the 2023-24 season with the Edmonton Oilers, contributing to their run to the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.
Originally selected eighth overall by the Oilers in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft,the Örebro,sweden native has also been recognized internationally.He was recently named to Team SwedenS roster for the upcoming 2026 Olympic Winter games in Milano Cortina.
