Brooks Koepka’s 2026 Season: A Look at His Return to Form and PGA Tour Journey
It has been a challenging start to his return to the PGA Tour for Brooks Koepka, but recent performance at the 2026 Cognizant Classic suggests a potential turning point. Koepka finished five under par at T27 in Round 2, positioning himself to make the cut for the weekend. This marks his best round since rejoining the PGA Tour this year.
Brooks Koepka Returns to the PGA Tour
The 2026 Cognizant Classic is Koepka’s third PGA Tour event of the season, and his third in nearly four years. The five-time major winner initially joined LIV Golf in June 2022, achieving several victories for the Saudi-backed league. He also secured the 2023 PGA Championship title, becoming the 20th player all-time to win five majors and the first LIV Golfer to do so.
Rumors of Koepka’s potential return to the PGA Tour began circulating in September 2025, with an official announcement made in December. He cited a desire to be closer to his family as a key factor in his decision. ESPN reports that, as part of the PGA’s reinstatement program, Koepka must “pay his way” into signature events but views his return as a new chapter in his career.
“It’s a fresh start for me, which is cool,” Koepka said in January, via the PGA Tour website. “It’s just another chapter, I guess, in my book. I’m excited for that. I feel like my game’s in pretty excellent shape, and I want to see where it’s at.”
Koepka Rebounding After Initial 2026 Starts
Although a 66 at PGA National may not seem remarkable for a nine-time PGA Tour winner, it represents progress for Koepka. His return to the PGA Tour began with a T56 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open on January 29th, and he missed the cut at the Phoenix Open a week later.
Making the cut at PGA National on Friday signifies the effort he’s investing in his PGA Tour comeback. “That’s the fun part,” Koepka said, via Golfweek. “I love the grind. I’ve always enjoyed it.”
Koepka teed off for Round 3 of the 2026 Cognizant Classic at 7:52 am ET on Saturday. He is a +6300 longshot at sportsbooks to win the tournament, but is listed at +260 odds at DraftKings to achieve his first top-10 finish of the season.
