Boston University Closed Tuesday Due to Historic Blizzard, Classes Resume Wednesday

Boston University has canceled classes and operations on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, following a historic blizzard that blanketed Greater Boston with up to two feet of snow. The university plans to resume normal operations on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

While the university is largely closed, essential services will remain operational. These include:

  • Residential Safety
  • Residence Life

  • Student Health Services
  • Facilities Management &amp. Operations
  • Environmental Health & Safety
  • Mail Services
  • Network Services

On the Medical Campus, essential services such as Public Safety, Emergency Patient Treatment, and Occupational & Environmental Medicine will also continue to function. Medical, PA, and Graduate Medical Sciences students assigned to inpatient services or clinics are expected to be present if possible. Students in outpatient services should confirm arrangements with their course directors or clinical sites.

The following campus facilities will be closed on Tuesday:

  • FitRec
  • Boston University Children’s Center
  • All University Libraries
  • Checquers on the Medical Campus
  • Retail operations in the George Sherman Union
  • City Convenience
  • BU Bookstore

Campus dining halls will remain open with modified hours. The George Sherman Union will remain accessible, and BU Shuttle (BUS) late-shuttle service will resume at 10 p.m. On Tuesday.
