Vladislav Panev and Traicho Traikov Launch New Political Party “Acceleration” in Bulgaria
Sofia, Bulgaria – Vladislav Panev, former co-chairman of the Green Movement and previously a member of the Democratic Bulgaria (DB) leadership council, has founded a new political party named “Acceleration.” The party’s co-founder is Traicho Traikov, the current Minister of Energy, according to reports from Darik News.
Founding and Ideology
“Acceleration” builds upon an idea club of the same name established by Panev nearly two years ago. The founding meeting took place on March 7th. While Traicho Traikov is a member of the initiative committee, he was absent from the meeting due to his ministerial duties. Vladislav Panev was elected chairman at the meeting.
Panev stated that “Acceleration” will position itself within the right-wing political spectrum. He explained to Club “Z” that he believes Bulgarian politics is becoming increasingly populist, creating a need for stronger representation on the right. He also noted current cooperation with the DSB (Democrats for Strong Bulgaria), stating, “Union makes strength.”
Political Affiliations and Electoral Strategy
Panev was previously a Member of Parliament for DB (2021-2022) and was nominated as a candidate for the April 19th parliamentary elections on the PP-DB (Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria) list, appearing second in Haskovo and fourth in Plovdiv-city. According to his Wikipedia profile, Panev left the Green Movement in the lead-up to the 2024 parliamentary election due to disagreements over contesting the elections outside of the PP-DB coalition.
Ilina Mutafchieva, another former MP from the Green Movement who also broke away from the PP-DB in 2024, is leading the “Acceleration” list in Targovishte.
Party Registration and Future Plans
As of March 19, 2026, the official documents for “Acceleration” have not yet been submitted for court registration. Before registration, the party must collect signatures from at least 2,500 members, as required by law.
Panev indicated that the party is currently focused on supporting the performance of the PP-DB coalition in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Further development of “Acceleration” will be considered after the election results are known. He also noted that the party includes representatives from various ethnic groups, as well as Bulgarians from the Western outskirts.
