Bulgarian Embassy Assisted Women Known as ‘Faith and Hope’ in Return to Bulgaria

Two Bulgarian women, known online as Vyara (Faith) and Nadezhda (Hope), have returned to Bulgaria with assistance from the Bulgarian Embassy in London, following a period of time spent living on the streets of London and gaining attention on social media platforms like TikTok.

Social Media Attention and Appeal for Help

In recent days, videos of Vyara and Nadezhda interacting in public spaces in London circulated widely on social media, prompting questions about their well-being, and language. The women were also active on TikTok, sharing videos of their experiences.

Journalist Desislava Dimitrova, residing in the United Kingdom, contacted the Bulgarian Embassy in London to request assistance for the women, who appeared to be in a vulnerable mental state.

Embassy Intervention

The Bulgarian Embassy responded to Dimitrova’s appeal by purchasing plane tickets for Vyara and Nadezhda to return to Bulgaria. Dimitrova shared a copy of the embassy’s response confirming their assistance.

Future Care and Adaptation

The long-term care and adaptation of Vyara and Nadezhda to life in Bulgaria remain uncertain. Questions remain regarding the support they will receive to address their mental and physical health needs after years of living on the streets in the United Kingdom. Prior to their return, the women had shared on social media that they were experiencing homelessness and begging for money, although other videos depicted them in shops and celebrating holidays.
