Nelson Asofa-Solomona Eyes Paul Gallen Fight,Reveals Boxing Motivation

Nelson Asofa-Solomona is open to a boxing match with former NRL star Paul Gallen, suggesting the fight could happen “down the track” if the price is right. The Melbourne Storm prop, who recently defeated Jeremy Latimore in his second professional boxing bout, hinted at Gallen’s financial motivations.

“Gal likes the coin, I heard,” asofa-Solomona said with a grin. “So for the right price he’ll come out of retirement. That’s a fight we can make down the track.”

Asofa-Solomona’s boxing career began in 2024, with nine fights over three years prior to his bout against Latimore. He dismissed the idea that anyone specifically convinced him to make the switch to boxing.

“Nah, no one convinced me.I just saw a path, saw some enjoyment come back into my life and that’s that,” he explained. “I found a love for something and thought ‘all right let’s jump in’.”

Despite his relatively new career in the ring, Asofa-Solomona admitted to feeling pre-fight nerves before facing Latimore, who entered the fight with a 2-0 record.

“Good nerves,” he clarified.”If you weren’t nervous, you would be in trouble. And I’m definitely feeling nerves… A bit of fear. But if you don’t have fear in your life it isn’t worth living.”

Asofa-Solomona is currently focused on taking fights one at a time, but remains open to potential matchups, including a lucrative clash with Gallen.
