Bybit EU Named Recommended Alternative for Dutch MEXC Users Amid MiCAR Transition

Bybit EU, operating under a license issued by the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), has been designated as the recommended alternative platform for Dutch residents using MEXC, according to official company announcements released on August 31, 2026. The transition stems from MEXC’s decision to wind down its operations in the Netherlands to comply with European regulatory frameworks.

Regulatory Shifts Under MiCAR in Europe

The operational shift is a direct result of the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). According to MEXC compliance chief Robert MacDonald, the partnership with Bybit ensures that users transition to a secure and fully regulated environment. The MiCAR framework requires all crypto-asset service providers operating within the EU to hold proper licensing, prompting platforms to adjust their jurisdictional footprints.

Bybit EU Named Recommended Alternative for Dutch MEXC Users Amid MiCAR Transition

Nazar Tymoshchuk, Europe regional manager at Bybit, stated that the company is prepared to welcome Dutch users seeking a legally compliant platform. Bybit EU has operated under its FMA license since May 2025, maintaining strict separation between customer and company assets while supporting euro deposits and withdrawals via SEPA and iDEAL.

Timeline for Dutch MEXC Users

Affected account holders are receiving direct instructions from MEXC regarding the timeline and necessary steps for the transition. Accounts and assets do not transfer automatically; users who choose to move to Bybit EU must open a new account and complete identity verification independently.

  • October 31, 2026: Recommended completion date for user transitions to alternative platforms.
  • November 16, 2026: Scheduled final offboarding date for Dutch residents on MEXC.

Platform Comparison and Migration Support

To facilitate the migration, Bybit EU has established a dedicated landing page featuring step-by-step guides, FAQs, and customer support links in Dutch. Eligible new users joining during the transition period can access welcome packages that include bonus rewards, fee discounts, and cash-back offers on Bybit Card usage.

Bybit EU GmbH provides services across the European Economic Area—excluding Malta—through its digital platform, supporting over 115 tokens and 135 trading pairs denominated in euros and USDC. The entity is authorized for crypto-asset custody, exchange services, and placement, though it does not operate as a traditional crypto exchange platform or provide investment advice.
