California Disaster Loans Available for Storm-Damaged Businesses and Residents

California businesses, nonprofits, and residents in 13 counties have until April 6, 2026, to apply for low-interest federal disaster loans due to severe storms that occurred between December 16 and December 26, 2025, according to the U.S. Minor Business Administration (SBA).

Affected Counties

The disaster declaration includes the following counties:

• Los Angeles
• Orange
• Riverside
• San Bernardino
• La Paz (Arizona)
• Mohave (Arizona)
• Clark (Nevada)

Loan Details

The SBA offers several loan options to aid in recovery:

• Businesses and Private Nonprofits: Loans up to $2 million are available to repair or replace damaged real estate, equipment, inventory, and other assets.
• Homeowners: Homeowners can borrow up to $500,000 to repair or replace their primary residence.
• Renters and Homeowners: Loans of up to $100,000 are available for personal property losses.

Applicants may likewise be eligible for a loan increase of up to 20% of their verified physical damage to fund mitigation improvements, such as wind-resistant upgrades and storm shelters.

Interest Rates and Repayment

Interest rates are as follows:

• Businesses: Starting at 4%
• Nonprofits: 3.625%
• Homeowners and Renters: 2.875%

Repayment terms can extend up to 30 years, and payments and interest accrual are deferred for 12 months from the date of the first loan disbursement.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans

Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are also available to businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and private nonprofits that experienced financial losses as a result of the storms. However, agricultural producers, farmers, and ranchers – excluding aquaculture enterprises – are not eligible for EIDLs.

Applications are available online at sba.gov/disaster. Applicants have a 60-day grace period beyond the April 6, 2026, deadline to submit their applications.
