While his name came up more and more among the best prospects in the 2026 NBA Draft, Caleb Wilson (19) suffered a broken left hand. A big setback for the phenomenal freshman from North Carolina.
Will we see Caleb Wilson on the NCAA courts again one day?
The five-star prospect from North Carolina assures that “it’s not over” but the question is legitimate given the nature of the injury, and the uncertainty that reigns over a potential return (no date announced for the moment).
Wilson was injured during the Tar Heels’ last game against Miami. A match in which Caleb returned to the field after his hand problem, the first examinations having revealed nothing broken. It was only after more extensive tests were carried out that the x-rays identified a fracture.

Caleb Wilson is thus stopped in his ascent, he who notably remained in an XXL match (23 points) in the victory at the buzzer against Duke and Cam Boozer. Projected in the Top 5 of the 2026 Draft, Wilson deserves – in the eyes of some – to be squarely in the discussion for the Top 3, behind Darryn Peterson and AJ Dybantsa.
His +++ athletic qualities, his boundless energy and his immense two-way potential (2m08, wingspan of 2m15+) make the power forward a very intriguing prospect. So of course, there is work to be done before having a reliable outside shot, and his scoring abilities are not as developed as with Peterson or Dybantsa. But his production game after game at North Carolina is impressive: almost 20 points on average, 9.4 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 1.5 interceptions on 58% shooting. All this in a team ranked #11 with 19 wins in 24 games.
Whether he returns this season or not, there is no doubt that Caleb Wilson will be one of the most coveted players in the 2026 Draft.
