California Grapes Partner with San Francisco 49ers for 2026 Mexico City Game
The California Table Grape Commission and the San Francisco 49ers have launched an official partnership for the 2026 football season, targeting the vital Mexican export market as the state’s grape harvest enters its peak autumn volume. As part of the agreement, Grapes from California serves as an official partner of the San Francisco 49ers in Mexico and the team’s official grape partner.
The alliance converges with preparations for the 49ers to play a game in Mexico City on November 22, 2026, at Estadio Banorte. Mexico remains one of the largest export markets for California table grapes, which account for 99 percent of commercially grown table grapes in the United States and span over 80 green, red, and black varieties available from May through January.
Retail Promotions and Spanish-Language Digital Campaigns Across the Border
Activities for the partnership roll out in the weeks leading up to the November showdown in Mexico City. Participating supermarkets across Mexico will feature 49ers-themed creative displays directly in the produce department to catch shoppers’ attention.

Digital outreach accompanies the in-store promotions through Spanish-language channels, including @49ersESP and 49ers.com/ESP, alongside digital and social channels managed by Grapes from California. Both organizations are also collaborating with a digital influencer who maintains a connection to California and Mexico.
Shared Roots and Fan Engagement at Official Watch Parties
The campaign integrates California fruit directly into official team watch parties and fan activities hosted throughout Mexico during the football season, providing consumers with hands-on brand experiences. Ryan Connors, senior director of global partnership sales and strategy for the 49ers, noted that the collaboration aligns with the team’s objective to expand its fanbase throughout Mexico. Ian LeMay, president of the California Table Grape Commission, emphasized that the partnership links two organizations sharing deep California roots and a long tradition of excellence.
