Canada’s Top Growing Companies: Ranking Methodology and Criteria

Canada’s Top Growing Companies program ranks participating private and public Canadian businesses on three-year revenue growth.

Program Criteria and Application Process

To qualify for the ranking, applicant companies must be Canadian-run and generate at least $2 million in annual sales during their most recent fiscal year. Participating businesses must complete a full application survey and supply supporting financial documentation to the research team for two specified fiscal years. According to program administrators, evaluations rely on the most recent fiscal year for which financial statements are available, though some companies are evaluated on calendar years instead of fiscal periods.

For franchisors entering the program, rankings depend strictly on corporate revenue rather than systemwide sales. All revenue figures reported in the ranking are calculated in Canadian dollars unless otherwise indicated.

Research Team and Future Applications

The research for the initiative is conducted by Sharon Joseph, Fiona Collie, and Kayla McKenzie. Business leaders interested in learning more about the methodology or applying for the upcoming 2027 ranking can visit the official program portal at tgam.ca/TopGrowing.
