Cape Cod Power Restoration Continues After Historic Blizzard

Cape Cod, Massachusetts, continues to recover from the Blizzard of 2026, with Eversource working to restore power to the remaining customers still without electricity. Although significant progress has been made, a multi-day restoration effort is underway, focusing on individual outages and complex repairs.

Lingering Outages and Restoration Efforts

As of Saturday, November 30, 2026, at 11:30 PM, Eversource reported 171 customers without power. The utility notes that not all reported outages may be directly related to the blizzard’s impact Cape Cod Times.

Eversource crews are tackling hundreds of complex, single-customer jobs, which have proven to be the most challenging aspect of the restoration process. Crews have been hanging miles of new wire and replacing damaged transformers, with 42 transformers replaced as of Saturday.

Challenges and Prioritization

The initial phase of restoration, addressing widespread outages, has been completed. The current focus is on smaller, individual service issues that weren’t immediately visible until power was restored to larger sections of the electric system.

Restoration efforts are prioritizing main circuits, with the goal of restoring power to the vast majority of customers before Friday, November 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CBS News. However, Eversource acknowledges that the last few customers may experience outages for a “couple of days” Cape Cod Times.

Resource Deployment and Community Support

Eversource has deployed a significant workforce to Cape Cod, including 2,000 line crews, 300-400 specialized tree crews, 50 crews from western Massachusetts and an additional 150 crews from Connecticut Cape Cod Times. Crews are also receiving assistance from teams arriving from Detroit, Ohio, and Canada Boston 25 News.

Reporting Outages

Eversource urges customers who still lack power to report their outage by calling 800-592-2000 to ensure a crew is dispatched to troubleshoot the issue.

As of Thursday, November 28, 2026, approximately 62,000 customers remained without power, with the majority of outages concentrated on Cape Cod Boston 25 News.
