Cardi B Names Keyshia Cole Debut as Greatest Album Ever in T Magazine Feature
Cardi B named Keyshia Cole’s 2005 debut, The Way It Is, the greatest album of all time during a video segment for her New York Times T Magazine “Greats” feature, Billboard reported. The rapper stated she has listened to the project since she was 13 years old and continues to spin it at age 33. The feature was published on Wednesday, Oct. 21, positioning the R&B record as essential listening for every woman.
Chart Performance and Legacy of The Way It Is
Released in July 2005, The Way It Is debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and secured a Platinum certification after spending 64 weeks on the chart. The project featured guest appearances from Jadakiss, Eve, Chink Santana, and Metro City. Powered by the Ye-produced single “I Changed My Mind,” the top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit “I Should Have Cheated,” which peaked at No. 31, and “Love,” which reached No. 19 on the Hot 100, the album cemented its success. R&B singer Ari Lennox similarly praised the release in 2019, calling it one of the most phenomenal debut albums ever recorded.
Cancelled Festival Appearance in Jamaica
The endorsement arrives alongside schedule adjustments for the “WAP” rapper, who recently pulled out of a planned international festival performance. Cardi B was scheduled to take the stage in Jamaica on Oct. 18, 2026, for BZR WKND Jamaica, but canceled the appearance. “Cardi B will not be performing at BZR WKND Jamaica on Oct. 18, 2026,” representatives for the rapper stated to Billboard, adding that the artist appreciates the support from her fans on the island and hopes to perform there in the future.
Recent Tiny Desk Concert Performance
The media appearances follow a busy promotional stretch for Cardi B, who made her official Tiny Desk Concert debut on Monday, Oct. 19. That performance featured a live band backing the artist through a selection of her chart-topping catalog. The intimate set generated renewed appreciation for her hit singles ahead of the print and video features rolling out through T Magazine.
