NEW YORK, January 6, 2026 – CaringKind, a leading dementia care association, and the Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center (ADRC) today announced a new affiliation, expanding access to comprehensive support services for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers throughout New York City, Long Island, and the surrounding region.

A Partnership Built on Decades of Experience

This strategic partnership combines CaringKind’s 45 years of experience delivering comprehensive, free dementia care with ADRC’s 40-year legacy of serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The collaboration aims to strengthen person-centered programs and bolster critical resources for thousands of families navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. As stated by Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh,President & CEO of CaringKind,”By uniting CaringKind and ADRC,we are combining decades of trusted expertise, community reach, and evidence-based programs to ensure more families-across New York and beyond-have access to education, support, and hope when they need it most.”

Expanded Services and Resources

As a CaringKind affiliate, ADRC will maintain its local presence on Long Island while gaining access to an expanded suite of resources, including:

  • 24/7 Helpline: Accessible at (646-744-2900), providing immediate support and guidance from dementia specialists.
  • Enhanced Care Consultations: Personalized navigational assistance throughout the dementia journey.
  • Connect2Living Programs: Including Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), Connect2Music, and “To Whom I May Concern®”.
  • Care Partner Education and Support: Workshops like Partnering Together and Journey Together, and also bereavement support services through Passages.
  • Community Programs: Targeted support for diverse communities including Chinese, Hispanic/Latino, Jewish, LGBTQ+, and Black and African American populations.

ADRC’s existing East Islip Resource Center, popular Memory Walk & Spring Festival, and established healthcare partnerships will continue and expand under the CaringKind umbrella. Lauren Vlachos, Executive Director of ADRC, emphasized, “With CaringKind’s resources, expertise, and comprehensive programming, we can expand the services our community depends on while maintaining the local, personal touch that defines our work.”

Addressing a Growing Need

The affiliation arrives at a critical time, as over seven million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, and that number is expected to continue to rise. The Alzheimer’s Association estimates this number will increase considerably in the coming years. However, advancements in Alzheimer’s research, including the development of new FDA-approved blood tests and lifestyle intervention studies like US POINTER, offer renewed hope for early detection and prevention.

adam Demetri, ADRC Board Chair, stated, “We are genuinely excited to partner with CaringKind, an organization that shares our heart, our mission, and our dedication to those touched by Alzheimer’s and related dementias.”

Looking Ahead

This partnership represents a significant step towards ensuring that individuals and families affected by dementia receive the compassionate and comprehensive care they deserve. By combining the strengths of CaringKind and ADRC, the organizations are poised to make an even greater impact on the lives of those navigating this challenging journey.
