Carlin’s Boys opened the Second Category Coppa Liguria season with a 4-0 victory over Bordighera Sant’Ampelio, securing the top spot in Group 1. Managed by Walter Orlando, the Nerazzurri capitalized on a dominant second-half performance after a tightly contested opening half-hour at the start of the tournament’s group stage.
First-Half Breakthrough by Messina Breaks the Deadlock
The match remained balanced for the first 25 to 30 minutes of regulation play. Bordighera Sant’Ampelio mounted early pressure and created a couple of scoring opportunities to take the lead. The deadlock broke at the 30-minute mark when striker Messina maneuvered inside the penalty area and fired a shot past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 for Carlin’s Boys.
Travella Dominates with a Second-Half Hat Trick
After taking the lead, Carlin’s Boys seized control of the tempo. Forward Travella doubled the advantage in the 40th minute, sending the Nerazzurri into halftime with a 2-0 lead. In the second half, Travella extended the lead to 3-0 in the 71st minute and struck again just five minutes later at the 76th-minute mark. The final 4-0 scoreline capped a hat trick for Travella.
Group 1 Standings and Qualification Outlook
The 4-0 win puts Walter Orlando’s squad at the summit of Group 1 with four goals scored and zero conceded. Carlin’s Boys will face Sanremo 2000 in their next fixture to determine advancement to the next round. Sanremo 2000 previously drew 2-2 against Bordighera Sant’Ampelio in the group’s opening match, meaning a draw in the upcoming fixture will be enough for Carlin’s Boys to secure qualification.
