Carlo Conti Reflects on Successful 2026 Sanremo Festival Amidst Social Media Debate
Carlo Conti, host and artistic director of the 2026 Sanremo Festival, expressed satisfaction with the event’s viewership and impact, despite online controversy. Speaking to Radio Toscana, Conti highlighted the festival’s 70% share and 11 million viewers, calling the results “sensational.”
Return to Routine and Addressing Criticism
Conti jokingly noted his return to normalcy, taking his son to school amidst Monday morning traffic. He addressed the criticism circulating on social media, acknowledging the platform’s tendency to “transform reality a bit” and introduce misinformation. However, he emphasized the importance of public judgment, stating, “the public follows and reads the various comments but in the complete judges with their own head, and this is the most important thing.”
Winner and Standout Performances
Conti expressed surprise at the success of the winning artist, noting he initially predicted the song might reach the top 10. He attributed the win to the artist’s extensive experience and a song that resonated with the audience. He also clarified that televoting wasn’t the sole deciding factor, as votes from the press room and radio jury also contributed significantly.
Personal Favorites from Sanremo 2026
Conti shared his personal highlights from the festival, praising the performance by Fedez and Masini as “modern, powerful, incredibly well sung with crazy lyrics.” He also commended Tommaso Paradiso, Raf, and Fulminacci, suggesting they deserved a place on the podium. He recognized Ermal Meta’s contribution as an “important song.”
