For carnival association Goei Geknoei, the approaching carnival almost turned out to be a major disappointment, writes Omroep Brabant. After months of intensive construction on the carnival float, it turned out that the colossus could no longer fit through the doorway of the warehouse in which it was built.
So there was no other option than to attack the facade of the warehouse with heavy artillery. After much grinding, hammering and a final final blow with an excavator, the facade was destroyed in Reek in Brabant.
Support beams
The way seemed clear to drive the float out, but that turns out not to be the case. There are still a few supporting beams in the road that cannot simply be demolished.
Still, the men of Goei Geknoei are confident that their float will be liberated next week and will simply participate in the parade. The owner of the warehouse is not too concerned about how the car gets out. The barn had to be demolished anyway.
