Born on August 19, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, Carol was the second of four children born to George Deric and Mildred Ford. She grew up alongside her siblings, Deric, Harold, and Sherry, all of whom remained closely connected to their hometown. Carol’s banking career began at Marshall National Bank during high school through the VOE program.

Marriage and Family

Carol began dating Billy Don (Bill) Hudson in her senior year of high school, and they married two years later. The couple shared nearly sixty years together. Early in their marriage, they moved to Austin, where Carol worked in the loan department at North Austin State Bank. Following a move to Dallas, she took on a role at Carrolton Bank and Trust, managing all loan administration. Later, she dedicated herself to raising their son, Michael Todd Hudson, and eventually co-owned a specialty sporting goods store with her husband in Austin.

Commitment to Volunteering

After closing the sporting goods store, Carol returned to being a stay-at-home mother and then devoted her time to numerous volunteer positions. She served as a counselor for the Austin Crisis Pregnancy Center and CARITAS of Austin, supporting the homeless population. She similarly worked as a national phone counselor for The American Cancer Society. After relocating to Houston, she volunteered at UTMB Galveston and later at Christi’s St John Hospital in Clear Lake.

Grandmotherhood and Legacy

A move to Georgetown SunCity was prompted by the arrival of her granddaughter, Olivia. Carol cherished her role as a grandmother, enjoying many moments with Olivia, who recently turned 16 and began driving. Despite being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, Carol continued to thrive in her volunteer work and embrace her family life.
