Carroll Basketball Heads to Havre and Great Falls for Weekend Showdown
HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College Men’s and Women’s basketball teams hit the road this weekend for a pair of Frontier Conference matchups against MSU-Northern and the University of Providence. The Saints are coming off a split last weekend, with the Men falling to Montana Western and the Women defeating the Warriors.
Both Carroll programs have a history of success against both MSU-Northern and Providence since the 2011-12 season (CC vs MSU-N, 1.19.12 | CC vs UGF, 1.21.12).
Both the Carroll Men and Women are appearing in the receiving votes portion of thier respective NAIA Coaches’ Polls, sliding out of the rankings as the previous poll on December 17, 2025. The Women made a slight fall in the ranks, sliding back from No. 24 with 117 votes in the last poll, to 92 votes this week – the top receiving votes mark in the nation. The Carroll Men fell much further, slipping from No. 15 into the middle of the RV pack following a trio of losses to teams either in the ranks or receiving votes over the last month.
irrespective of rank, both teams remain firmly in contention for the Frontier Conference crown, as the Men sit atop the league standings at 10-1, and the Women sit just one game back, tied in a log-jam for second place at 9-2.
The Women enter the weekend with two wildly different recent histories against each school. The Saints have won 19 games in-a-row over the Skylights, a streak that dates back to January of 2020, and are winners of 16 of the last 17 meetings in the all-time series.Providence has given Carroll fits in recent seasons, however, owning a 6-4 advantage in the last 10 meetings.Of those 10 contests, four games have taken place in the postseason.
On the Men’s side of the action,Carroll will put a seven-game win streak on the line against the Lights in Havre. Outside of a three-game sweep by MSU-N in 2022-23, the Saints have won 16 of the last 19 meetings. Saturday evening, the Saints will look to get their revenge on an Argonaut team that brought their season to a close in the semifinals of last year’s Frontier Conference championship.
