Catherine O’Hara’s Cause of Death Announced

CNN reports that the actress died of a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot that blocks the blood vessels of the lungs), on the background of an oncological disease. The actress died at a hospital in Santa Monica, California.

The oncologist who signed the death certificate said he had been treating O’Hara since last March and last saw him on January 27. It is also stated that O’Hara was cremated.

An initial statement from the actress’ representatives stated that the actress died “after a short illness”.

O’Hara is known for several popular Hollywood films, but to many viewers she is best known for the Christmas movie classics Home Alone and Home Alone 2, where she played the mother of Kevin (Macauley Culkin).

The actress has received several film awards, including the “Emmy”.
