The College for Creative Studies in Detroit is launching a Bachelor of Arts in Business for Creative Industries and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Human-Centered Robotics Design, with applications now open for a Fall 2027 start. CCS President Don Tuski stated that the new offerings respond directly to employer demands for graduates equipped with strategy, leadership, and human-centered design skills for emerging technology.
Bachelor of Arts in Business for Creative Industries
The new business degree compresses traditional four-year timelines into a 90-credit, three-year program. Students can reduce tuition costs by a full year while preparing for roles like creative project manager, producer, brand or marketing manager, product manager, design researcher, and business analyst. The curriculum covers marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, strategy, leadership, and project management.
The program supports block transfers from an Associate of Arts in Business and aligns with the MI Transfer Pathway for Business. Students combine core business courses with studio electives across majors such as film and game production, product design, transportation design, communication design, interior design, and curation.
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Human-Centered Robotics Design
The BFA in Human-Centered Robotics Design is a STEM-designated industrial design program focusing on human-robot interaction. The robotics sector is projected to expand from $2 billion in 2024 to $6.4 billion by 2030, according to data cited by the college. The curriculum studies how autonomous systems move from factory floors into schools, hospitals, and homes with an emphasis on trust, design ethics, and behavioral science.
Located in Detroit, CCS provides students with proximity to local manufacturers, automakers, and technology innovation hubs developing autonomous robotics applications. Students combine studio classes with coursework examining movement, light, sound, interaction, and materials.
Accelerated Dual Degrees and Program Structure
In addition to the two new undergraduate degrees, CCS is introducing accelerated BFA and MFA programs enabling students to earn both degrees in five years. This dual structure saves students a full year of tuition compared to pursuing the credentials separately. The college’s expanded offerings aim to align creative education with shifting employment demands in the creative economy.
