Limburg carnival Season Crowns “On Character” as Potential Hit
Yesterday marked the most crucial day of the year for carnival artists in the Limburg province of the Netherlands. The finale of the LVK (Limburgs Vastelaovesleedjes Konkoer), a song competition, took place, determining which song would likely be the biggest hit of the carnival season. The duo Pruuf Mar emerged victorious with their song, On Character.
The LVK began in the 1970s as a reaction to the popularity of Dutch-language songs, and all participating songs are performed in the regional Limburgish language.
A photo accompanying the report shows several of the finalists from the 50th edition of the competition.
