Céline Dion Wears 67 Carats of Chanel Diamonds During Paris Residency
Céline Dion appeared on stage on October 14, 2026, at the Plenitude Arena in Paris wearing a platinum and 18K white gold Chanel Comète necklace set with 1,080 diamonds totaling 67 carats, Something About Rocks reported. The singer paired the high-jewelry creation with a custom haute couture gown designed by Matthieu Blazy that reimagined the silver dress she wore to the Academy Awards in 1997.
The Reimagined 1997 Oscars Look
The custom gown worn during the Paris residency draws directly from the Karl Lagerfeld design Dion wore to the 69th Academy Awards, where she made history as the first performer to take the stage twice during a single ceremony, according to Vogue Adria. Matthieu Blazy incorporated elements from his autumn/winter 2026 haute couture collection into the new silhouette, featuring an embroidered muslin layer over a structured corseted bodice and a raffia-trimmed sweetheart neckline, as detailed by Vogue Adria and Page Six. Atelier Montex executed the intricate embroidery using Lunéville techniques, covering the surface in 6,000 glass crystal stones and 5,000 beads to create a shimmering stardust effect. Page Six noted that the creation required 1,380 hours of meticulous handwork by the in-house couturiers at 31 Rue Cambon.

Diamond Heritage and the Comète Necklace
The Comète necklace replicates a comet with its fiery tail curving around the neck like an inverted question mark without hooks or clasps, making it one of Chanel’s most recognizable high-jewelry creations, according to Something About Rocks. The design is inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s original 1932 “Bijoux de Diamants” collection, which was funded by The Diamond Corporation Limited in London to revive a diamond market suffering after the 1929 Wall Street Crash. While Dion wore an original shooting star necklace designed by Karl Lagerfeld for her 1997 performance of “Because You Loved Me” and “I Finally Found Someone” at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the contemporary rendition worn in Paris is a direct homage to that historic red carpet moment.

Residency Milestones and Health Recovery
Dion’s five-week residency in Paris concludes on October 17, 2026, marking a major milestone following her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome in 2022, which forced her to cancel her previous world tour. Vogue reported that after spending years managing her health in private, the singer made a triumphant return to public performance at the Paris Olympics in August 2024 by singing Édith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” from the Eiffel Tower. Following the conclusion of her current block of performances in Paris, Dion is scheduled to resume her concert tour in May 2027.
