Celine Dion has very diverse musical tastes.
In a humorous Instagram video, the Canadian singer shared what she’s been listening to these days.
“I’m Céline and here’s my playlist,” she says, wearing a sweater with her name on it. “Just a little bit, because there are so many artists, so many songs that I love. »
Dion opens the list with Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain,” joking that the song — which peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 in 2017 — could very well have been his.
“She did a great job, I love Rihanna, but it should have been for me,” she says wryly.
She then continues with “You Say” by singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle, indulging in a lively lip-sync on this catchy ballad. Then, a change of atmosphere with “Before I Go”, an R&B-soul song by Guy Sebastian, an artist for whom Dion says he has a lot of affection.
“Guy Sebastian, do you write songs for other artists? » she asks, laughing. The Australian singer has not yet responded, but appears a second time on the playlist with “Believer”.
The Quebec singer then radically changes register and reveals her rock side when “Until It Sleeps” by Metallica appears in her random selection.
“Eddy, one of my twins, his favorite band is Metallica. I want to sing a Metallica song now,” she explains, before enjoying the 1996 classic and imitating singer James Hetfield.
New change of tone when “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt resonates. Moved by this acoustic ballad which became one of her biggest hits, Dion confided: “I can’t talk too much about James Blunt, otherwise I’ll start crying. » She then extends a touching invitation to him: “Could you write me a song too, please? »
Blunt also appears a second time in the playlist with “Monsters”, released in 2019.
To conclude, Dion ends this overview on a bright note with “Stop This Flame” by Celeste. Performing her own version of the song, she calls the singer “incredible and wonderful” and even talks about a possible collaboration.
“CC, two Cs together,” she said, intertwining her hands. “We could do something. »
Despite health problems and recent personal trials, Celine Dion concludes the video on a note of hope: “See you soon, okay? »
Among the surprises of this selection, we discover a surprising musical opening: the title “Interlude” by British rapper Stormzy rubs shoulders with “Help”, the poignant interpretation by John Farnham. These choices illustrate the richness of a reading list where genres intertwine without complex.
It was through a self-deprecating video that the star shared her favorites. Newly arrived on TikTok, Céline has fun with her image by joking about her new status as a “trendy woman”. This light tone marks a touching contrast with the trials we have gone through in recent years.
As a reminder, the diva has been more discreet since 2022, following the announcement of her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome. This rare neurological pathology, which causes muscle spasms and affects the vocal cords, forced her to cancel her 2023-2024 world tour to devote herself to her convalescence.
Today, it is a resilient and radiant Céline Dion who finds the light and shares her universe with her audience.
