CF Montréal Secures Argentine Defender Tomás Avilés on Loan from Inter Miami CF
Montreal, QC – CF Montréal has considerably bolstered its defensive lineup with the acquisition of Argentine defender Tomás Avilés on loan from Inter Miami CF, the club announced Friday. The loan agreement extends through the 2026 Major League Soccer season, with CF Montréal possessing an option to secure a permanent transfer following the loan period.
The move sees Montréal send a 2026 international roster spot to Inter Miami in exchange for the services of the promising 21-year-old. Avilés arrives in Montreal with a proven track record of success, having played a key role in Inter miami’s recent championship victories, including the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 Supporters’ Shield, adn the 2025 MLS Cup.
Since joining Inter Miami in August 2023, Avilés has featured in 63 games, demonstrating his versatility and impact with three goals and three assists.Prior to his move to MLS, the defender developed through the esteemed youth system of racing club de Avellaneda in Argentina’s first division. He also represented Argentina on the international stage, participating in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
