Actor Chad Lowe and his wife Kim Painter announced on Tuesday that their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, has died. The family shared a statement with People detailing their grief and remembering Fiona as a bright, creative young person who loved to dance.
Family Statement and Tributes to Fiona Lowe
The family’s statement described Fiona as the light of their lives, noting she was adored by her parents and her sisters. “Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time,” the family said in the statement shared with People. The family also shared resources for anyone struggling with mental health, pointing to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Chad Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, welcomed Fiona on November 15, 2012, as his second child with Painter, whom he married in 2010. The couple shares two other daughters: Mabel, born in 2009, and Nixie, born in 2016. Lowe frequently shared family milestones online, marking Fiona’s 13th birthday last November with a social media post that encouraged her to keep dancing through life.
Overcoming Recent Hardships in Los Angeles
Earlier this year, the family faced significant upheaval when the January Palisades Fire destroyed their Los Angeles home. In February, Lowe posted a photograph of his three daughters standing arm in arm among the remains of the property. At the time, Lowe praised his daughters' resilience and spirit after returning to inspect the damage a month after evacuating, noting that helping them through the difficult period was his life's greatest privilege.
Chad Lowe earned an Emmy Award for his role as Jesse McKenna on Life Goes On and has maintained a decades-long television career with appearances in Pretty Little Liars, Melrose Place, 24, Supergirl, and 9-1-1: Lone Star. Kim Painter works as a film and television producer.
