Changwon Mayoral Candidate Proposes Modern Children’s Theme Park
Ahead of the Changwon mayoral election, prospective candidate Ki-yoon Kang has announced plans to create a children’s experience theme park in the Changwon area, collaborating with Ecell Co., Ltd. To bring the project to fruition.
Partnership with Ecell Co., Ltd.
On March 21, 2026, Ki-yoon Kang signed a business agreement with Ecell, an animal supply and zoo consulting company, at his election office in Changwon. The agreement focuses on combining expanded children’s education and experience infrastructure with Ecell’s expertise in animal supply and operation. The collaboration will encompass planning for a children’s experiential animal and plant themed space, animal procurement, and cooperation in facility design and content development.
Theme Park Features and Educational Focus
Ecell will be responsible for selecting and supplying animal species suitable for children’s education programs, as well as providing support for animal import procedures and transportation. The company will also offer consultation on facility design, prioritizing animal welfare and safety standards, and contribute to the development of experiential educational content. Discussions during the agreement process reportedly included the potential inclusion of red pandas.
Policy Goals and Future Development
Kang’s campaign team has positioned this plan as a key policy initiative to expand family-friendly experiences in the Changwon area. The candidate stated a desire to create a facility that combines educational and experiential elements, and pledged to comprehensively review site selection, permitting, and integration with community programs if elected. However, the project’s implementation remains contingent on administrative review, budget allocation, and public discussion.
Political Context
Local political observers view the agreement as a strategic move in the lead-up to the local elections. It is anticipated that the theme park proposal will become a significant point of policy debate alongside other candidates’ urban development and family-focused initiatives.
