The updated assessments refine the color-coded indexes initially presented during the first study. These metrics allow the three communities to compare service requirements and identify necessary upgrades ahead of any formal consolidation. Local leaders are currently focused on determining the capital investments required and pooling operational costs. Because each municipality operates under distinct local conditions, elected officials are searching for a formula that can suit the three. The planning process faced a setback over the summer when a funding application submitted to the Fonds régions et ruralité (FRR) was rejected. The grant money was intended to partially subsidize a shared resource to help drive the project forward. Because of the denial, the three municipalities will be forced to split the cost directly if they decide to hire a shared resource.
