Volvo to Expand EX30 Lineup with More Affordable Rear-Wheel Drive Option

Volvo is preparing to launch a more accessible version of its popular EX30 electric crossover, aiming to broaden the appeal of electric vehicles to a wider audience. The new variant will feature a single electric motor and a more competitive price point, company representatives have confirmed.

New Single-Motor EX30 Details

The upcoming model will utilize a single electric motor powering the rear axle, producing 148 horsepower. Volvo will offer this configuration with two battery options: a 51 kWh battery providing an estimated range of 330 kilometers (approximately 205 miles), and a larger 69 kWh battery extending the range to over 450 kilometers (approximately 280 miles). Erik Severinsons, Volvo’s commercial director, stated that the new, simplified EX30 is designed to expand Volvo’s presence in the budget-friendly EV segment, making electric mobility more financially attainable for a broader range of consumers.

Alongside the more affordable single-motor option, Volvo is also expanding the EX30 lineup with a rugged “Cross Country” model.
