Chiefs’ Harrison Butker Hits 69-Yard Field Goal vs. Buccaneers

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker knocked through an unofficial NFL record-setting 69-yard field goal during a preseason matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Fox News and Fox Sports reporting. While the staggering kick cleared the crossbar with room to spare, it will not officially eclipse the league record due to its preseason status.

The 69-Yard Kick at Arrowhead Stadium

During the preseason contest, Butker sent the ball through the uprights from 69 yards out at Arrowhead Stadium. According to Fox Sports, the impressive boot establishes a new franchise record for the Chiefs and stands as the longest field goal ever kicked at Arrowhead Stadium, surpassing his previous personal best of 62 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6 of the 2022 season.

Despite the historic distance, the kick remains unofficial in the NFL record books. Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little currently holds the official regular-season record with a 68-yard field goal against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 9, according to Fox Sports data.

Contract Status and Roster Context

Butker has established a reliable track record for Kansas City since the franchise drafted him out of Georgia Tech in 2017. According to Fox Sports statistics, he has successfully converted 251 of his 285 career field-goal attempts. Financially, Butker held the title of the NFL’s highest-paid kicker until the offseason, when Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey signed a contract extension that surpassed Butker’s current deal, as reported by Fox Sports.

The team secured tight end Travis Kelce on a new deal and brought back quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who continues to recover following a torn ACL sustained in Week 15 of last season, according to Fox Sports reporting.

Upcoming Schedule

The Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to officially open their campaign at home against the Denver Broncos for an AFC West showdown on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, according to Fox Sports.
