China Eastern Airlines Deploys Aviation Technology at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

China Eastern Airlines (CEAir) served as a national strategic partner and the designated carrier for the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, deploying specialized aviation services, technological exhibits, and personnel across the event, according to company announcements carried by live.deutsche-boerse.com, ad-hoc-news.de, and finanzen.at. The competition concluded after bringing together more than 1,300 participants from 68 countries and regions to compete across 64 disciplines.

Airport Ground Services and Event Protocols

CEAir deployed ground staff to the Shanghai-Pudong International Airport and the Shanghai-Hongqiao International Airport to manage ticketing inquiries, check-in procedures, passenger orientation, and boundary clearance support for attendees. During the opening ceremony, 69 members of the airline’s cabin crew operated as floor guides. Additionally, 20 volunteers from the carrier’s “Lingyan” team managed protocol duties at both the opening and closing ceremonies, as reported across all three participating outlets.

Operational integration extended directly into competition domains. Fifteen cabin crew members acted as styling models for the hair dressing competition discipline, while five aircraft maintenance technicians provided direct technical support for the aircraft maintenance category.

Technology Exhibits and Onboard Connectivity

At the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 Expo, CEAir constructed a 300-square-meter exhibition pavilion to demonstrate transport innovations. The display featured industrial pilot training (IPT) flight simulators, virtual reality maintenance training units, AI-driven cargo security screening technology, and an intelligent robotic system designed to prepare health-focused meals. Live demonstrations and interactive modules allowed visitors to examine operational aviation workflows.

In the air, CEAir equipped nearly 1,400 flights with complimentary wireless local area network (WLAN) access during the event window, enabling passengers to monitor competition results mid-flight. Meanwhile, the airline’s designated “Skills for Success” themed aircraft completed nearly 300 flights and carried more than 60,000 passengers since its introduction in May, operating across 22 international routes connecting 16 countries and regions.
