The Chongqing Consumer Council announced the results of comparative badminton tests: 24 samples including Peak and Double Happiness were not marked with production dates.
China Consumer News reported (Reporter Liu Wenxin) Recently, the Chongqing Consumer Rights Protection Committee announced the comparative test results of 30 badminton models. Among them, the 3 types of test indicators of 5 samples of DECATHLON, VICTOR, WECAN, Asia Lion, and Yonex all met the relevant national standards, and their overall performance was excellent, and they were rated as five-stars. 24 samples including Peak, Double Happiness, 361°, and Huiyu were not marked with production dates, did not meet the standard requirements, and did not participate in star evaluation. There is also a sample whose three categories of test indicators all meet the standard requirements, but because it is a recreational product rather than a training product, it is not included in the star rating.
The test indicators of this comparative test involve three categories: stability, durability and marking. Stability includes landing point characteristics and flight stability. Durability includes the hardness of the ball head and the number of times the ball mouth will not deform under pressure. The logo includes the trademark and inner packaging. The test is based on “Badminton” (GB/T 11881-2006). The 30 samples were randomly purchased by Chongqing Consumer Council staff as ordinary consumers on online shopping platforms and offline stationery and sporting goods stores. They were mainly produced in Guangdong, Shanghai, Beijing, Hunan, Jiangsu and other places. The purchase prices ranged from 40 yuan to 230 yuan per tube, and each tube was 12 pieces.
Many indicators of Dift failed to meet the standards
The landing point characteristic index mainly tests the stability of the badminton’s flight trajectory and the accuracy of the landing point under standard hitting force and angle. If this indicator does not meet the standard requirements, the badminton flight is prone to deviation and erratic flight during training or competition, which will affect the batting experience and movement rhythm, and may also lead to poor training results or distorted competition results. The test results show that there are three samples that do not meet the requirements of this standard, namely: Kairuite produced by Jiangshan Bangda Sports Goods Co., Ltd., Peak produced by Shenzhen Youke Sports Development Co., Ltd., and Dift produced by Shanghai Woying Industrial Co., Ltd.
The ball head hardness index mainly tests whether the badminton ball head can maintain an appropriate deformation range when it is hit. If this indicator does not meet the standard requirements, an excessively hard ball head will result in a stiff feel and excessive impact when hitting the ball, which may easily cause wrist or arm strain; an excessively soft ball head will result in insufficient transmission of batting force, affecting flight distance and speed. The test results showed that 2 samples did not meet the standard requirements, and the nominal brands were Kairuite and Divert.
The index of the number of times the ball mouth is not deformed and is under pressure mainly tests the number of times the ball mouth part can maintain a stable shape when the badminton is subjected to specified pressure. If this indicator does not meet the standard requirements, the mouth of the ball is prone to collapse, deformation and other problems, which will affect the flight trajectory and hitting feel of the badminton. The test results showed that the sample with the nominal brand name of Dift did not meet the standard requirements.
24 samples are not marked with production date
“Badminton” (GB/T 11881-2006) requires that each ball should be marked with a trademark, and the inner package should contain the product certificate, trademark, product name, model, grade, quantity, speed, mark, raw piece, ball head and other material names, production date, company name, address, standard number. If this indicator does not meet the standard requirements, consumers will not be able to accurately understand the basic information of the product, and it will be difficult to judge whether the product is suitable for their own use needs. They will also be unable to effectively trace the source of production and protect their own rights and interests when quality problems arise.

The test results showed that 24 samples were not marked with production date and did not meet the standard requirements. Among them, 2 models were not marked with speed as required. The 24 samples are: the nominal brands are Careite, Peak, and Dift, as well as the nominal brands 361° produced by Yiwu Lizhou Trading Co., Ltd., Liangjian produced by Jiangshan Liangjian Stationery and Sports Products Co., Ltd., Antarctic Wind produced by Jiangshan Sanxin Sports Goods Co., Ltd., Yunzhongying produced by Jiangshan Chaoyue Sports Goods Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Kawasaki Sports Goods. Consumption tips
Choose products that suit your exercise intensity
For companies that do not meet standard samples, the Chongqing Consumer Council has held rectification meetings with production companies to point out existing problems and put forward rectification requirements to help companies improve product quality. The person in charge of the relevant enterprises promised to strengthen self-examination and quality control, and formulated corresponding rectification measures. At the same time, the Chongqing Municipal Consumer Council has notified the market supervision bureau of the location of the production company that did not meet the standard samples and handed over the relevant information about the product’s non-compliance with the standard requirements.
Based on the results of this comparative test and the daily complaints of consumers, the Chongqing Consumer Council reminds consumers that they should go to regular large shopping malls, specialty stores, well-known e-commerce platforms, and flagship online stores to purchase badminton products. Check whether the product is clearly marked with the manufacturer’s name, address, implementation standard code, factory inspection certificate and other information, and check whether the specifications, model, trademark on the product label are consistent with the product manual. Check whether the feathers are arranged neatly and whether the glue is firmly attached.
It is recommended that consumers choose appropriate badminton according to their own sports scenes and levels. If it is used for daily entertainment, you can choose a durable nylon ball; if it is used for professional training or competitive games, it is recommended to choose a goose feather ball. Avoid using recreational-grade products for high-intensity professional training to prevent premature product damage. Beginners can give priority to products with lighter weight and moderate elasticity to reduce the burden of exercise.
Before using badminton, consumers should read the product manual carefully to understand the correct use and maintenance methods. Check whether the badminton is damaged. If it is damaged, replace it immediately to avoid accidents caused by fragments falling off during exercise. At the same time, wear appropriate sports equipment, such as non-slip sports shoes, wrist guards, etc., and choose a flat, obstacle-free venue for exercise to reduce the risk of falling or collision.
