Chris JerichoS potential WWE Return: Retirement Tour on teh Horizon?

Wrestling icon Chris Jericho may be considering a return to WWE, perhaps signaling a new chapter in the celebrated career of the six-time world champion. Currently in a contract year with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Jericho’s future is the subject of increasing speculation, fueled by reports of a lucrative offer from his former employer.

According to a recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has extended a proposal to Jericho centered around a retirement tour storyline. This comes as a growing number of established stars contemplate their wrestling futures, with John cena already embarking on a farewell schedule and AJ styles indicating 2026 will likely be his final year in the ring.

Veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer stated, “As noted many times, this one is a jericho decision and all hints are in the WWE direction.I know that WWE has offered him a retirement storyline, and those in WWE have said that’s what they’d be interested in. Others expect him to be there early next year, but nothing is confirmed.” This suggests a strong interest from WWE in bringing Jericho back for a important,story-driven run to honor his legacy.

Tony Khan Remains hopeful of Retaining Jericho in AEW

While WWE appears eager to welcome Jericho back, AEW President Tony khan is actively working to retain the veteran performer.Khan has consistently praised Jericho’s contributions to AEW since it’s inception in 2019, highlighting his dedication and commitment when actively involved with the promotion.

During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Khan expressed his desire to re-sign Jericho, stating, “I absolutely hope we’ll get Chris back in. A star like Chris Jericho, you negotiate a certain number of dates. Chris has always been really great about being one of those wrestlers in AEW that when he’s in, he’s all the way in.”

Jericho’s last televised appearance for AEW occurred in April, where he dramatically disbanded The Learning Tree, leaving Bryan Keith and Big Bill to compete as a duo.He hasn’t wrestled in a WWE ring since his surprise appearance in the 2018 Royal Rumble.

The possibility of Jericho’s return to WWE was further underscored at the Survivor Series post-show on Saturday, when fans enthusiastically chanted “Y2J” in the direction of WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, a gesture that was noticeably ignored. Earlier this year, Jericho himself acknowledged he “wouldn’t be opposed” to revisiting his career in WWE, leaving the door open for a potential return.

The decision ultimately rests with Jericho, and the wrestling world awaits his next move with considerable anticipation.
