Supertone Director Details Chromebook Pricing in Corruption Trial

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Tedjokusumo Raymond, President Director of PT Supertone, revealed details regarding the pricing of Chromebook laptops, ranging from IDR 2.9 million to IDR 6 million and above, during a hearing in an alleged procurement corruption case.

Chromebook Production Costs and E-Catalog Pricing

Tedjo, as he is known, explained the cost of production (HPP) for a single Chromebook unit in 2021, excluding Chrome Device Management (CDM). “The HPP without CDM is IDR 2.9 million,” he stated at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 .

In the same year, PT Supertone was invited by the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) to register its products in the e-catalog. Tedjo explained that prices listed in the e-catalog had to adhere to the suggested retail price (SRP) or highest retail price (HET).

“For the X1 type Chromebook, we listed it at IDR 6,490,000,” Tedjo said .

Price Discrepancy Explained

Prosecutors questioned Tedjo about the significant difference between the HPP of IDR 2.9 million and the HET of IDR 6.49 million. Tedjo clarified that the e-catalog price was determined after a market survey, specifically examining prices on online marketplaces.

“We found similar specifications to my product being sold in the IDR 6-7 million range. So, we decided on Rp. 6 million, plus CDM, which is approximately IDR 480,000,” he explained .

Tedjo further stated that all manufacturers registering products on the e-catalog are required to sign a statement confirming that the SRP or HET does not exceed market prices. “We must have a statement that the government’s SRP cannot be above the public market SRP,” he said.

Price Consolidation in 2022

In 2022, Tedjo and representatives from other Chromebook manufacturers were contacted by LKPP to discuss price consolidation.
