Anthropic’s Claude Now Generates Interactive Visualizations

The line between seeing and believing continues to blur as artificial intelligence evolves. Anthropic’s Claude AI model is now capable of generating dynamic visualizations, complete with interactive elements like sliders and buttons, moving beyond simple static charts.

Interactive Charts on Demand

Anthropic initially showcased this capability last fall as “Imagine with Claude” and has now released it as a beta service to customers. Claude can create custom charts, diagrams, and visualizations directly within its responses, allowing users to tweak and modify them as the conversation progresses .

This differs from image generation tools like Google’s Nano Banana or Midjourney, as Claude generates JavaScript code using the Chart.js library, along with HTML and CSS. These are essentially temporary, on-demand mini-applications, rather than persistent tools like Claude Artifacts.

From Compound Interest to Custom Charts

As an example, Anthropic suggests users can ask Claude to illustrate how compound interest works. The AI then generates an interactive chart with sliders to demonstrate the concept. Previously, users would have needed to search for such a tool online, often encountering ad-filled websites.

The interactive nature extends to evolving conversations. When prompted, Claude can add features like an inflation slider to existing charts, all within the same interface.

A Playful Demonstration: The Periodic Table of Idiots

To demonstrate its flexibility, Anthropic asked Claude to create an interactive table resembling the periodic table, but populated with “idiots.” Claude complied, generating a chart with 36 entries, starting with “1 Ob, Obviousman.”

The description for Obviousman reads, “States the blindingly obvious with the confidence of a Nobel laureate. Will inform you it is raining while you are both standing in the rain.”

Availability and Future Implications

According to Anthropic, interactive chart generation is enabled by default . Claude 4, released in May 2025, offers breakthrough AI capabilities, including more reliable and interpretable assistance for complex tasks . The models, Claude Opus 4 and Claude Sonnet 4, can also utilize tools like web search during extended thinking, improving response quality .

Claude utilizes Constitutional AI, a training technique focused on ethical and legal compliance, avoiding reliance on extensive human feedback .
