Clearmont Historical Center Hosts Sixth Annual Quilt Show

The Clearmont Historical Center is currently showcasing its sixth annual quilt show, featuring approximately 70 quilts and quilted items. The exhibit, which opened today, March 1, 2026, includes both antique quilts passed down through families and contemporary creations from local quilters.

A Variety of Quilts on Display

This year’s show features a diverse collection of quilts, including pieces crafted by junior quilters at the Buffalo Kids Quilt Camp hosted by the Buffalo Quilt Gals. A unique quilt constructed from blue jean squares is also on display. Sandy Hirz, director of the Historic Center, noted that extra categories were added to the show this year.

Visitor Engagement and Show Details

Each quilt is numbered and accompanied by information about its creation and maker. Attendees are encouraged to leave comments and share their feedback on their favorite pieces. The quilt show will be open daily from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM throughout the month of March.

History of the Show

The Clearmont Historical Center hosted its fifth annual quilt show in 2025, honoring local quilter Addie Cook. Quilts were accepted until February 25th to allow time for setup before the March 1st opening. The center also recently improved its basement with a concrete floor and new shelving, funded in part by a $500 grant from the Sheridan County Community Foundation. The 5th Annual Quilt Show was extended through April 6, 2025.

New Exhibit Coming Soon

Following the success of the quilt show, the Clearmont Historical Group will present a new exhibit titled “Pioneer Living, Home and Hearth,” featuring items from the early 1900s in Sheridan County. This display will be available throughout the summer.
